Digital Resource Archive: Writing for Community Change Topics

In this chapter, you will find resources for 11 topics that cover a range of issues that we found typically interest our student body. For each topic, you will find a 1) one-sheet with ideas for narrowing the larger umbrella issue to a sub-topic of interest, links to high quality government sources, and links to pro/con articles on a sample sub-topic and 2) a Slides presentation that incorporates video, song, poetry, and art about the main topic because from the first weeks of class we want students to view each topic from a prism-like perspective that includes the many ways in which an issue can be approached.

We have found that we (professors and students) visit the archive often throughout the semester for textual and creative examples. The archive creates a no-excuses resource whereby students, if they are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, can get ideas and freely use any of the sources and/or examples for their papers.
