Argumentative writing is one form of writing that typically requires extensive research on a topic. Collecting sources, evaluating perspectives, and developing a personal standpoint on an issue are all components that contribute to putting together a unique perspective on a topic. Developing a strong thesis will provide your audience with a roadmap to navigate your writing. Using strong transitional phrases will help shape each component of your essay. Finally, a conclusion should provide solutions to the issue, or closure on the topic to ensure the audience isn’t left hanging.
Other things to consider include incorporating rhetorical strategies, avoiding fallacies, and utilizing a balanced and authentic tone.
