These magnificent students of mine exemplify grit, persistence, and ingenuity. Meet the authors of this textbook and the songs that inspire them to write and create:

Meg’n Blundell

I am a freshman at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. I come from a small town in northern Idaho called Kooskia. I graduated a year early from high school and began college. Some of my hobbies include hunting and riding our ATV as well as painting and crafting. I love going out in the woods with my friends and playing around. I am majoring in nursing, and I chose this major because I love helping people. I understand that it takes a lot of hard work to do what nurses do, and I’m up for the challenge. I love LCSC because of the small scaled classes and love getting one-on-one time! This book has been really fun to put together, and I hope you get a lot out of it and enjoy reading it. Songs that inspire me: “Best Day Of My Life” by American Authors, “Hey Driver” by Zach Bryan and the War and Treaty, and “Dancin’ In The Country” by Tyler Hubbard.

Yu-Chia Shun

I am a current student at Lewis-Clark State College studying psychology. I am originally from Taiwan, where I was a dietician. However, I believe psychology will help me in my future career, so I changed majors. I am interested in how psychological concerns and nutritional aspects impact the elderly. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, video gaming, and listening to music. Em Behold’s “Numb Little Bug” and Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” are my favorite songs.

Keith Marshall Uitdewilligen 

I am currently a student a Lewis-Clark State College. I was born and grew up in Meridian, Idaho. I run cross country and track here at Lewis-Clark. I am majoring in sports management, and hopefully in four years I will know what I want to do in life. In high school I did marching band and hung out with all the band kids. I enjoy all types of music, but my favorite has to be rap. My favorite artist is Kanye West, and I especially love his album Jesus Is King.

Sebastian Barba

I am a freshman at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. I was born in Ecuador, but I grew up in different countries like Colombia and Mexico and also lived in Miami. I play tennis for the college. I am majoring in business administration because I would like to manage my own company after graduating. I like to listen to music–corridos tumbados–if it’s to play guitar. Sometimes I listen to American rappers, and Bad Bunny is one of my favorite singers.

Devin Nardecchia

I am currently a student at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. Shortly after high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years. I spent my time studying philosophy in hopes that it would lead me to living a fulfilled life, and I found that I feel the most fulfilled when I teach someone a new skill. Some of my favorite bands include Iron Maiden, Disturbed, and Jimi Hendrix who use anti-war rhetoric throughout their music. My favorite song is “Thank You” by the band Hellyeah, a song written as a tribute to the drummer’s brother and other loved ones of the band members.

Bailee Blevins

I am currently a student at LCSC in Lewiston, Idaho. I graduated from Lewiston High School. Some things I like to do are hunt, fish, and ride side by sides. I am also in love with reading, it is my escape. I am majoring in Nursing because I want to help people. I love LCSC because of the community here. Everyone is very friendly and you get to have a connection with the teachers do to the smaller classes. Some songs that inspire me are: “Musta Had a Good Time” by Parmalee, “The Ride” by David Allen Coe, and “Down Home” by Jimmie Allen.

Citllali Juarez 

I am currently starting my college journey as a nursing major at Lewis-Clark State College. I am from a small town in Southern Idaho. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love to listen to music, camp, and crafting. Putting this book together was a fun, interesting process. I hope you readers love and use these techniques and experiences to write your next narrative essay. A song that inspires me is “Nueva Vida” by Peso Pluma.

Santana Simmons

I am currently a freshman at Lewis-Calrk State College. I am from a small town called Kooskia, Idaho.  I enjoy spending time outdoors and hanging out with my family. Putting this book together was such a fun experience. I hope you find this book helpful! Songs that inspire me are “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts, “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan, and “Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi.

Darian Herring

I am a currently a freshman at Lewis-Clark State College. I’m from a small town in Washington. I enjoy spending time a the lake with friends and family. I also enjoy the game of basketball. Creating the book has really been a positive experience. I hope you can find the information the this book helpful. Many songs have inspired me over the years, but I especially love “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploader.

David Morrell
I am on my second attempt at doing college. I’m currently a student at Lewis-Clark State College as a freshman. I lived in Idaho most of my life in town called Lapwai. I enjoy being physical, playing video games, creating art, and listening to music. Designing a part in a textbook has been awesome and a great project to do as a freshman. You can find the content I shared in this book under Multimedia Resources (YouTube videos and podcasts). I have too many favorite songs, but my top two favorite songs right now are “To Be a Man” and “Dear Alcohol” both by Dax.

Isac Ortega

I am from a small town called Fruitland, and I am currently attending LCSC to get a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an associate’s degree in the culinary arts! I enjoy hanging out with my friends and finding new places to go and eat. I have enjoyed writing this book with my classmates. Just to end it off, I’ll add the two songs that have been on repeat as of late: “Sorry Not Sorry” by Tyler The Creator and “Who Dat Boy,” featuring A$AP Rocky.

Susan Willis

I am a freshman at LC State majoring in psychology. I was born and raised in Idaho, and I am from the Kooskia, ID area. Like most people from Idaho, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I love going for hikes with my dogs and goats, and spending as much time as I can by the river in the summer. It was a special opportunity to be a part of putting together this book, and I hope other students find its resources helpful. My two favorite songs would be: “Take Me Back to Eden” and “The Apparition” which are both by Sleep Token.

Michael Boudreau

I am from Anchorage Alaska. My end goal is to either become a sports agent or a coach. I am currently working towards my Sports Management degree to hopefully
realize my goal. I am also a huge Atlanta Falcons fan and avid fantasy football player.
